Bottling day

So I bottled the Belgian blonde ale today as you can see from the photos.  I realize I didn't take very many photos if the bottling process but that is  because I was by myself and had a lot going on. When I bottle the ESB I will make sure to get more photos. Anyway I ended up with 50 bottles which isn't to bad. It finished at 1.012 so it is sitting at about 6.5 avb. I'll be back later with a few photos of my setup so check back later. Cheers.

Brewing

Okay so now we have our specialty grains steeping. I have to let it sleep until it's 170 degrees I'm currently at 140 degrees. In 30 more degrees I will pull the specialty grains and let the wort come to a boil. At which time I will kill the heat and add my dme.

Chilling an ESB

Ok so you can see from the photos I have chilled my wort and pitched my yeast. My "beer" is sitting at 70ºF in my brew room with the other tasty treats I have fermenting. So in about 3 weeks I will bottle as this beer doesn't call for a secondary fermentation. My original gravity was 1. 073 at 70 degrees so we are looking good at the moment. I will have more updates later. Check back often. Cheers.

Flame out

Alright were done with the boil all thats left now is to chill the wort transfer it to the fermentation bucket and pitch my yeast. We may also do a bottleing todsy as it is still so very early. I have a Belgian blonde in the carhoy that needs to be bottled so we will see. Cheers

DME

Ok so as you can see from the photos I pulled the specialty grains and added the DME. Now I have to boil for 5 minutes and than add my hops. Man thus wort smells awesome.

brew day preparation

Ok so just a quick update now that im home from work. Im getting my preparation done for tomorrow morning my bucket and all of my tools are soaking in oxi clean and my starter is looking good. I'll let everything soak in the oxi clean over nite and than hit it with starsan in the morning.

New brew idea

I have an idea for a new beer I would like to try brewing for summer this yesr. I want to brew a Hot Chili and honey wheat beer. Im just not sure what kind of peppers I want to use. This is goning to be my on going project I think for the next little bit.

Tasty starters

OK so I just got done making a 750mL yeast starter for the ESB I'm going to be brewing in the morning. I used WLP 007 dry English ale yeast from white labs. This is the first time I have used white labs to make a starter most of the time I brew with wyeast smack packs.
OK so this is my first attempt at doing a blog. So what this is all about is home brewing beer I'm going to use this blog to document my brewing adventures and I hope to learn from my past experiences. I also would like to help others learn through my experiences as well. I will also be posting random thoughts on brewing and other beer related stuff. Please feel free to join in and also let my know what you think of my brewing adventures.
